The CFEL Controlled Molecule Group is seeking highly motivated individuals to join our workgroup. We have open positions at all levels, from bachelor, M.Sc. and Ph.D. students to postdocs in the fields of Laser Physics and Molecular Physics.
We are looking for new students in the fields of Molecular Physics, Physical Chemistry, and Laser Physics. Experience with ultrafast lasers, molecular beams, or ion/electron imaging would be a plus, but is not required.
We offer a highly interdisciplinary first-class research environment in an enthusiastic and fun team. Experimental projects range from the manipulation of the translations of large molecules using dc electric fields to isomer-separation, from direct structure determination using diffraction experiments to "making the molecular movie" using sophisticated ultrashort-pulse laser setups.
We also have several small experimental (electronics, vacuum setups), theoretical or computational (simulation/analysis software) projects well suited for short-term projects of interested students.
A more detailed description of currently open positions and of our workgroup and possible projects for students can be found in the PDFs at the bottom of the page.
We are looking for new colleagues with a Ph.D. in molecular physics, physical chemistry, laser physics or a related field. Applicants are expected to have an excellent track record and good skills in spoken and written English. Experience in the following areas is a plus: control of atoms or molecules with external fields, ultrafast molecular dynamics, ion or electron optics, imaging, (ultra) high vacuum, molecular beams.
All positions are available immediately and until filled.
