We are seeking PhD students and Postdocs for the chemical dynamics group at the CFEL Theory Division to work in the following general topics:
1) Methods development in quantum dynamics: Extensions of the Multiconfiguration Time-Dependent Hartree (MCTDH) method for the treatment of nuclear and electron dynamics.
2) X-ray pump-probe spectroscopy: THz/IR/UV pump - X-ray probe scenarios for probing vibrationally/electronically excited systems, such as metal complexes, materials, water clusters, etc.
3) Nuclear dynamics triggered by X-ray absorption: Nuclear dynamics involving states in the continuum, and microscopic description of radiation damage to molecules and clusters with opportunities for classical and quantum dynamical approaches.
At the Postdoc level, experience in at least some of these areas is desired:
- Development and/or usage of quantum-dynamical methods, or time-dependent approaches in general, for molecular spectra, scattering, etc.
- Development and/or usage of quantum-chemistry methods, especially for excited electronic states
- (Ab Initio) molecular dynamics simulations
For informal inquiries regarding the chemical dynamics area, please contact Dr. Oriol Vendrell (oriol.vendrell@cfel.de).
